Save the Belford!

Save the Belford!

Fergus is pictured with Alex Salmond and campaigners from Lochaber for retention of health services at the Belford Hospital in Fort William. Famously on Tuesday, 11 November 2003 around 2,500 people attended the Nevis Centre in Fort William, representing about one fifth of the population of Lochaber, for a meeting to ensure that the Belford Hospital would continue to be recognised as a medical training centre in order to retain its medical, surgical and casualty staff and that consultant-led services would be retained locally to ensure that high quality acute emergency services survived in Fort William.
