Fergus at a Fort William Shop

Fergus at a Fort William Shop

Fergus on visit to a Fort William Shop. Small traders face increasing competition from large multi-nationals such as TESCO's. Areas which were once the preserve of the local newsagent such as the selling of papers has been taken on by large stores where you can now buy your morning paper along with your weekly large shop. Whilst this has often meant a cheaper shop for customers it has threatened the survival of these local shops and means that many of the local shops which are the cornerstone of small communities, particularly in rural areas, face closure.
